The government has taken a big decision amid the ongoing tussle between India and the United Kingdom (UK) regarding the vaccination of Indians.
The government has now decided to get both doses of the vaccine and to mark the date of birth on the vaccination certificate of people traveling abroad.
For this, the government has also started its facility on CoWIN. This decision of the government is in compliance with the rules of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Controversy arose due to the UK government not recognizing ‘Covishield’
Let us tell you that the UK government had issued new guidelines regarding Corona travel restrictions.
In this, those taking both doses of double-dose vaccines such as Oxford-AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna would be considered ‘fully vaccinated’ and would be able to travel to the UK, but Covishield was not placed in this category.
The UK government had put a condition for travelers coming from India to be quarantined there for 10 days.
After India’s warning, UK recognized Covishield
In the matter, India had expressed strong objection to the decision of the UK government as discriminatory and warned of reciprocal measures if the matter was not resolved.
Similarly, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had discussed the matter with Britain’s new Foreign Secretary and Foreign Minister Liz Truss.
After this the UK government had recognized Kovishield, but raised questions on India’s vaccination certificate.
Indians will have to stay quarantine even after getting recognition to Kovishield
In the new advisory issued by the UK, it was said that they have no objection to Kovishield, but have doubts about India’s vaccination certificate. In such a situation, Indian citizens going there will necessarily have to stay in quarantine for 10 days.
India took steps after raising the question of UK
After questioning the vaccination certificate by the UK, now the Indian government has moved towards doing it as per WHO rules. Till now, only the name, place of vaccination and age were mentioned in the vaccination certificate.
In such a situation, now the government has also decided to mark the date of birth on the certificate of people going abroad. The people of the country will start getting this facility from next week.
Date of birth will be recorded on the vaccination certificate
An official source told PTI, “It has been decided that a new facility will be added in Kovin, whereby those who have taken both the doses of the vaccine and want to travel abroad, their full date of birth will be on the vaccination certificate.” will be marked.”
He said India has also objected to the doubts raised by the UK on the certificate and insisted on getting it recognized through diplomatic channels.
