Facebook Name Change: The social media platform Facebook has changed the name of its company to ‘Meta’. For the past several days, there was talk that Mark Zuckerberg is planning to rebrand his company with a new name. Now it has been confirmed. The special thing is that Facebook has been given a new name by an Indian-origin employee, Samidh Chakraborty. Announcing this, Mark Zuckerberg said at a conference, “We have learned a lot while dealing with social issues and working in closed platforms, and now is the time to take what we have learned. Indeed, Facebook is focusing on creating a “metaverse,” which is basically an online world where people can use a variety of devices in a virtual environment. To accomplish this, the company has invested heavily in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

Facebook’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the company will grow from a mere social media company to a “metaverse company” and operate on the “embedded Internet”, which first connects the real and virtual worlds.

Facebook’s name has changed before

Facebook’s former Civic Integrity Chief Samidh Chakraborty had suggested the name ‘Meta’ to the company. Earlier Facebook did something similar in 2005, when it changed its name from TheFacebook to Facebook. Facebook is used by more than 3 billion people worldwide. The number of people using Facebook in India is 41 crore.
