Earlier, Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Hamid Shinwari had said that the Taliban have spoken of fully supporting cricket.

He said, “The Taliban are very fond of cricket. They have supported us from the very beginning. They have not interfered in any of our matters. I don’t think they will create any obstacles and I expect full support from them so that May our cricket progress.
