An incident of collapse of a three-storey building has come to light in the Sabzi Mandi area of North Delhi. After the incident, the relief and rescue work is going on. Five vehicles of the fire department have reached the spot.
According to eyewitnesses, many people are feared to be buried. Several vehicles are also buried under the rubble. After the building collapse, there has been chaos in the area. It is being told that two children are trapped in the debris. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has tweeted on the incident of building collapse. He has written, “Very sad accident of building collapse in Sabzi Mandi area. The administration is engaged in relief and rescue work, through the district administration I am personally monitoring the situation.
It is being told that at around 11:50 pm, a phone call was made from the vegetable market in which it was told that a building has collapsed here. After getting information about the incident, five fire tender vehicles have reached the spot. This building was located in front of Robin Cinema in Delhi, near Malkaganj. Downstairs in the 3 floor building was a dairy shop which was recently sold. Renovation work was going on in it, when the building collapsed, the surrounding building was also damaged.
One elderly person and two children were rescued
So far one injured elderly person has been pulled out from the rubble. There were 4 to 5 people in the building who could be buried. Work was going on under the building in which the workers were working, they are also feared to be buried. It is being told that two children were passing from there, they were also buried under the debris and a car was hit. At present, the NDRF team has taken out both the children from the rubble. The children have been admitted to the hospital.
BJP leader demanded survey
BJP spokesperson Praveen Kapoor said that there is a request / demand from the Mayor and Commissioner of North Delhi Municipal Corporation that in the last few days of heavy rains, dozens of old buildings in Old Delhi and Slum areas have become weak. Today a dangerous building also collapsed in Sabzi Mandi (Civil Line Zone). Please stop accidents in future by ordering the survey and action of dangerous buildings in Old Delhi and slum areas without any delay.
The building collapsed in Narela on Sunday
Earlier on Sunday, an old building collapsed in Narela after heavy rain in Delhi. It is a matter of relief that no one was injured in this incident. However, this building was already declared a dangerous structure by the NDMC. Let us inform that for the last few days, heavy rain has been seen in Delhi. The risk of collapse of dilapidated houses has increased after the rains.
